Richard Bland

MA Drama Directing Student

Richard is training on the MA Drama Directing course at BOVTS. He is currently Assistant Directing This House (Tobacco Factory). In 2016, he received his BA (Hons) in Acting from the Guildford School of Acting (GSA). In 2017, he completed the Mercury Theatre (Colchester)’s Early Career Development Programme and has worked as a freelance Director, Actor, Stand-up, and Practitioner since then. Previous directing credits include: Moonfleece (C Venues, Edinburgh); How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found; Blue Stockings; Macbeth (All Headgate Theatre, Colchester); A View From The Bridge (St Martin’s Church, Colchester); Ben Hur (Castle Park, Colchester).

One of my favourite parts about BOVTS is that it feels ‘homegrown’. From the set to the costume, lighting, acting and sound, every single aspect of a theatre production or film is down to the students. The location of Clifton is so serene and the School being so small everyone knows each other and it feels so personal and special. Violet Morris, BA Professional Acting Student
