“She’s got a writ signed by God, sir!”

by Stephen Adly Guirgis
Directed by Nik Partridge
Designed by Hugo Dodsworth

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School invites you to bear witness to mankind’s most infamous betrayal, as Judas Iscariot’s crimes against Jesus Christ are put to trial in this deliciously dark and persuasive work from Pulitzer playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis.

Judas is languishing in Hell for his deeds, his ultimate fate hanging in the balance. Upstairs, in a peculiar realm of Purgatory, the downtown courthouse of Hope is divided. Street smart lawyers barter with Judge Littlefield. Satan, Sigmund Freud and Mother Teresa are called to stand. Themes of justice, faith and forgiveness are dissected with razor-sharp wit.

Adopt an open mind and judge the proceedings for yourself. Bristol Old Vic Theatre School’s eccentric courtroom drama is running from 5-12 March at The Station.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Limited

As soon as I visited the School, I fell in love with the place. Perhaps it sounds a bit irrational, but sometimes you get a vibe - and you just know! BOVTS gave me all the tools I needed to prepare for a career as an actor. Sahir Mehta, MA Professional Acting, 2018
