Overview

Join us this summer for our Summer Film Camp, where young people come together to learn about all things film!

If you’re a young creative with a taste for filmmaking, this is the perfect chance to gain hands-on experience, both in front of the camera as well as behind it. During the film camp you will learn about:
> Performing in front of a camera
> Directing scenes to tell a story
> Framing shots using different camera angles to create dramatic effect
> Using lighting to play with the mood of a scene
> Designing and making costumes to fit different themes
> Setting the tone for a film using sound
> Writing scenes and dialogues to convey drama and action
… and much more!

You will be taught by our current degree students, who are bright young professionals about to embark on their careers in the industry. BOVTS graduates have made their mark on stage and screen for over 75 years, and some have even gone on to win Oscar awards! You can be sure that our students will bring the best of their training and experience to the Young Artists Summer Film Camp.

DAILY CINEMATIC QUESTS:

Day 1 – Lights, Camera, Action!: Dive into the world of filmmaking. Learn the basics, explore equipment, and kick off the process of crafting characters and storylines for the ultimate quest.

Day 2 – Script to Screen:Understand the art of storytelling. Students work on script development, learning how to translate ideas from paper to screen with guidance from our industry professionals.

Day 3 – Cinematic Techniques: Delve into the world of cinematography and editing. Explore various filming techniques and gain hands-on experience in bringing visual narratives to life.

Day 4 – Reel Realities: Engage in full-scale film production. From rehearsals to on-set challenges, students will experience the excitement and pace of a real film shoot.

Day 5 – Premiere Extravaganza: Witness the grand premiere as our young filmmakers showcase their devised film to an eager audience. It’s a celebration of creativity, hard work, and a week of unparalleled learning.

Life-Long Skills in Every Frame: Beyond the lens, our camp focuses on fostering essential life skills. From teamwork and communication to problem-solving and storytelling, your child will gain valuable skills that extend far beyond the world of film.

Bursaries and key dates

A limited number of bursary places are available for this course.

Applications for bursary places will be open from Monday 12 February until Friday 22 March.

Places will go on general sale on Tuesday 9 April.
