Audition with confidence in this intensive five-day Bootcamp for aspiring performers aged 17–21.

Whether you’re preparing for drama school entry, your first professional casting, or simply want to sharpen your skills, this course will guide you through every stage of the audition process, from first impressions to final recall.

Led by experienced industry professionals and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School tutors, participants will explore in-person theatre auditions, in-person screen auditions, and self-tape technique, gaining practical insight and individual feedback along the way.

Course Highlights

How to prepare and perform contrasting monologues for theatre auditions.

– Techniques for screen auditions – working with the camera, eyelines, and truthfulness on film.

– How to create and submit an effective self-tape, including setup, framing, and delivery.

– Building confidence, presence, and adaptability in different audition environments.

– Professional etiquette and mindset: from entering the room to taking direction.

What Do I Need To Bring

– Two contrasting monologues (one classical, one contemporary)

– Comfortable movement clothing and closed-toe shoes

– A notebook, water bottle, and lunch (no catering on site)

– Optional: smartphone or camera for self-tape work

 

Please bring food and drink with you each day as there is no catering on site.

We advise you to wear comfortable clothing that you can move in easily. Please wear closed toe footwear appropriate for movement e.g. trainers.
