THE LOVE OF THE NIGHTINGALE

Written by Timberlake Wertenbaker.

Directed by Kim Durham.

Designed by Susan Pearce

How do you silence the truth?

An ancient myth. A horror story of brutality and retribution.

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School’s International graduating MA Actors bring you a tale from Ovid’s Metamorphoses of startlingly contemporary resonance.

When a military ruler seeks to silence the truth by any means the inevitable consequence is an eruption of violence.

Timberlake Wertenbaker’s extraordinary play is as much a surgical strike at our own world of entitled misogynist presidents, fake facts, lies, violent control and routine female suppression as it is of Ancient Greece.

This amateur production of The Love of the Nightingale is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French Ltd.
