A four term course for up to four students with the career aim of directing drama. Students come from a very wide range of backgrounds but must have previous directing experience.
Students are provided with the practical experience of working as an assistant to a professional director on theatre, television, radio drama and voice production. Public theatre productions take place in local professional venues. Recorded media training is based at our unique facility - Christchurch Studios - enabling students to explore all aspects of this field with industry specialists.
Students attend classes from across the range of our acting and production courses, developing skills appropriate to their chosen career needs and interests. Work includes directing the acting students on various exercises for internal presentation and practical projects with the design department. In the final term students direct their own shows as part of the Directors' Cuts Season at the Alma Tavern Theatre in Clifton.
The course is recognised in the industry as providing students with the opportunity to explore and experience the creative relationships and processes in drama production while training in a practical environment.
NB This course is only for candidates possessing a previous degree and substantial previous professional experience.
