PRACTICAL TRAINING FOR CAREERS IN THEATRE, FILM & TV PRODUCTION.
Please note: Applications close at 4pm on 31st May 2017.
This is a course for students with more substantial previous experience who may also have already had previous experience of higher education and have already developed a clear idea of their career path. The course offers training for careers backstage in theatre.
Year One: the first two terms are shared with the BA Hons students and is a general introduction to production skills, comprising five compulsory modules. Stage Management, Lighting, Sound, Propmaking and Scenic Construction. Practical classes and projects in these five subject areas lead on to practical experience working on our summer term theatre productions often as Assistant Stage Managers and Deputy Stage Managers. Within the year you will also have an introduction to screen work, through a visual narrative project and an introduction to radio drama recording.
Year Two: You will have a much clearer idea of the career path you wish to take – most students wish to go into Stage Management, but other options in technical theatre and scenic / props construction can be taken. The year will provide you with practical experience on theatre productions in professional theatre venues in Bristol or on tour. You will also take up to three weeks on industry placement with a theatre company or production department, to consolidate your practical experience at the Theatre School. In common with the three-year students you will have a number of industry employer interviews in the summer term.
Graduate employment from this course is outstanding with past students working across the arts and entertainment industry.
The course offers up to six places per year.
