The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School operates Christchurch Studios as a training ground for our students. We also rent additional spaces to professional composers, musicians and producers who primarily work with music for stage, film and TV as well as major record labels.
The BBC leased and converted the premises in 1942, providing a further network for radio during the war. In 1985 the BBC invested over 1 million pounds in equipment and building renovations to provide one of the best Radio Drama / Music Recording Studios in Europe.
Bristol Old Vic Theatre School bought the building and lease from the Church in 1998 and in 2002 upgraded the desk and control room.
Our soundstages are incredibly varied in ambient temperature and therefore attract a diverse selection of clients who wish to use the studio for acoustic and/or live recordings.
