auditions/interviews

Our audition process explained.

Acting Courses

Auditions are held between November and May in Bristol.  All applicants will be invited to a 15 minute preliminary audition on receipt of an application.  Candidates are asked to prepare a solo excerpt from a classical play, another in prose from a modern play and a simple, unaccompanied song.  Each piece should last no longer than 2 minutes.   At this stage of the auditions there will also be a brief, informal chat and opportunity to ask any questions you may have.  Successful candidates are invited to attend a Recall, held in Bristol between January and May.  These are intensive one day in-depth auditions.  The Recall will include individual audition sessions and group workshops with members of our staff.  Candidates will also be interviewed by the School’s Artistic Director.  From the Recall, a shortlist is compiled of those to be considered for the offer of a place. The closing date for entry in the coming Autumn Term is 1st March.

To allow for the likelihood of Overseas candidates having a limited period of time in this country while auditioning, the process -although thorough and competitive – is different from that required for entry to our other acting courses.  We currently offer applicants the opportunity of an extended audition either in New York or Bristol.  For further information please navigate to that page via Courses or see notes on How to Apply.
