Sam Raine

Head of Scenic Construction

Sam joined the theatre school in 2005 after many years working in the theatre and events industry. Originally from London, Sam trained at RADA on the Specialist Course in Scenic Construction gaining an Honours Diploma.

Sam has worked across a broad range of disciplines including theatre, opera, television, photography, museum and display installation with companies such as Kimpton Walker Ltd and the Royal Opera House.

Immediately prior to joining the theatre school, Sam had his own workshop in the south-west and completed projects for a number of clients including Theatre Royal Bath. Sam continues to work in the live events industry as a stage and project manager when his schedule allows.

The Scenic Construction department operates in conjunction with the Scenic Art department at our dedicated and well equipped facility in south Bristol. As head of department Sam trains the students in scenic construction in timber and steel, construction management, technical theatre, AutoCad, rigging and all the myriad aspects of bringing a build to a successful conclusion.
