What is there at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School?

The Theatre School has three main sites - 1, 2 & 3 Downside Road, Christchurch Studios and Sheene Road.

The Theatre School is housed in three Edwardian buildings on the edge of Clifton Down. Facilities in the three buildings include:

Rehearsal Studios; Music Studios; Scenery Workshops; Props Workshop; Sound Studio; Armoury; IT Suite; Quiet Study Areas; Script library; Award-winning Dance Studio; Lighting and Sound Studio; Design Studio; Costume Department; Electrical Workshop; Stage Management Studios; Student Common Rooms.

Christchurch Studios, a former BBC recording studio, houses the Theatre School's centre for recorded media:

This includes broadcast-standard digital audio and video recording studios and editing suites, used both for the training of students and for professional recordings.

Sheene Road, the School's scenic workshops; a new facility for the construction and painting of scenery. The School also has a large props and furniture store as a resource for its productions.

Carbon Reduction Strategy

The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School is committed to reducing its carbon consumption. The School’s core belief is that high quality vocational theatre and film training can be provided without costing the Earth.

The School has introduced a raft of changes across the organisation, including fitting low energy lighting and computer monitors, switching to a zero carbon electricity supplier and implementing staff and student awareness campaigns.

Every building within the School has been fitted with an energy monitor and so far the policies have shown great success. The results speak for themselves:
