The Television and Film production department based at the school’s former BBC studios in Clifton boasts industry standard practices and equipment for students on the 3 year BA Professional stage management course as well as 2nd & 3rd year acting courses. The department produces 3 x 20 minute dramas shot on tapeless high definition cameras, which are edited in-house. In addition two stop frame animation projects, a music video and a ‘live ‘ studio shoot as well as short documentaries and web based film projects are produced each year. Students are taught a wide range of skills by working professionals, which include camera operator, editing, location manager, location sound recordist and production manager. Third year students can choose to specialise in one area of film and TV production in their final year.
Recent graduates from the department have been employed at Aardman Animations, the BBC, Thames TV and C4. Graduates have worked as freelancers on the latest in the series of Larkrise to Candleford, Skins, Harry Potter and ITV’s Law and Order.
